Police have arrested two women after an assault in a Hamilton Mountain parking lot left a victim with non-life-threatening injuries on Sunday.

Officers say they responded to a parking lot near Upper Wellington and Concession streets at around 9:35 p.m. after receiving reports of an assault.

Reports to detectives indicate that one female was involved in an argument with the two women over a parking issue.

Investigators say the argument escalated and the female was physically assaulted by the two women. The women are accused of punching, pulling the victim to the ground and dragging her by her hair while uttering racial slurs at her.

Detectives say paramedics were notified but the victim declined a ride to the hospital.

Hamilton police involved the Hate Crime Unit in the investigation which resulted in the arrest of the two women.

This week, officers arrested the two women, aged 22 and 26 respectively. They were both charged with assault causing bodily harm.

The police department is reminding people that “hate has no place in Hamilton.”
