We like to hear local news all other local stations are gone also. We need local weekend news

Independent local news is essential to a healthy community by: 1/ ensuring awareness of issues that impact the viewing/ listening/ reading area 2/ economic growth; uses local talent and experts; business, entertainment, medical, academic 3/ attention to issues which can ensures appropriate community resources 4/ attention to issues that promote political accountability 5/ attention to issues that promote social accountability- identification, development and support of social issues impacting the lives of its people.

Watching the local news daily where I live and work keeps informed about our community as a whole.

CHCH TV & News is reliable print, photo, or video information which I know has been verified & corroborated. It uses professionally trained journalists who take pride in verifying and corroaborating the information they obtain & share. If they cannot verify independently, they say so. It is not an AI "summary" nor is it some chat-bot created content (inaccurate or even fictional). CHCH journalists and Canadian journalists, in general, have studied, and worked hard to hone their skills. They are regionally familiar, and Canadian through and through. The many other staff (script- or other writers, photographers, videographers, make-up, lighting, and a host of other employees...directors, script writers...etc) live in this region and take pride in their work as well and it shows. I live in Hamilton & CHCH News & TV has provided, and continues to provide, trustworthy local news as well as international news. I know that many--perhaps most--of its staff live within the region, and call Hamilton & surrounding area home as well because over the decades of my living here, & in the course of my daily shopping or other activities, I have seen, & even spoken to them casually & have thanked them & complimented them for their work.

Local news is the most important way to hold governments at all levels, but especially the municipal level, to account. Without independent local news reporting, a government could attempt to do almost anything with limited fear of detection or consequences. Look at the red Hill Valley expressway fiasco, or the contaminated sewage ecological disaster! Local news is the best way, in effect, to keep politicians and municipal employees honest and doing the right thing. But they also keep the community informed, from the wider regional audience down to nieghbourhood and even street-level concerns and events - in business, social happenings and more. Independent, unbiased, investigative local news, in effect, is key to a livable community.

Obviously without the Spectator, CHCH is the only access to general Hamilton area news

My local news keeps me up to date on things around the region that affects me. We are not Toronto. We are not US . I appreciate having CHCH . Have been watching it for Years. I'm 72.

If it wasn’t for the news we would not be up to date on local events and issues. Look forward to the news every morning and evening. CHCH plays a major part in our community.

I depend on ch for local news. I used to listen to 900 chml & watch ch in the am & at 6:00 but 900 chml is now gone & it appears that for news ch may be on it's way out as well. Oddly enough I hear our Hamilton local news on 680 which of course is a Toronto station, If this keeps up we'll have to rely on national news & depend on social media for local happenings. I'm real estate agent. We need to know what's happening in Hamilton & area Thank you

We are seniors. Streaming is not something we are used to or want to learn. We count on local reports for Hamilton and Niagara so we feel connected, updated, and have some idea of local concerns. Please allow those of our generation continue with local broadcasting. Morna Ahlstedt

I have been watching CHCH local news for many years 7 days a week. I live in Niagara Falls and I am a 93 yr old senior. This is my only source of local news as I do not have a cell phone or a computer. Please bring it back, Thank you

Our household has always watched CHCH news because we want to hear our local news when it’s happening, good or bad. Mainly at 6 pm but 11 pm if missed at 6. I used to watch morning live with Annette and Bob, when my work schedule allowed me the time. My almost 84 year old Mother will not watch the news online and is extremely disappointed with having no local news!

As an Hamiltonian I would like to be informed in whats going on in my community!

I’m kept in touch with what’s going on in my community because of CHCH. They are an honest and knowledgeable staff. I watch the weather in the morning to be able to dress accordingly depending on the weather. I see what is directly important to me within my area regarding any accidents and what roads to avoid. We are not American and I want to know what’s going on in my community and beyond with integrity and honest journalism that I have been trusting to CHCH News to do exactly that on a daily basis for many many years! Elbows up!

Born and raised in Hamilton . CHCH is the news channel that matters. It brings the local / home town news to us .Been watching my whole life.

I feel it’s extremely important to know what is going on in my local area. It is the main reason I tune into CHCH for news. I can get international news from many places (too many). Bring back my local news!!

I especially enjoy having Shelley Marriage do the weather. She does it the best, and is a happy smiling knowledgeable woman. Please use her permanently for,the daily news. And return to daily 5 pm news please, at least a half hour a day

The local news is trustworthy! I can believe what I hear not what I read. Far too much UNtruth on the internet and AI has made it so unbelievable. I felt comfortable with what I saw on CHCH news was real and the truth.

Accurate information on what I need to know to navigate the roads and weather and where there are events.

Extremely important. I need to stay in the know. My local news! A must keep, no AI generated data centres.

I'm 84 years old and live alone in Dunnville. I was born & lived in east end Hamilton for 34 years. I owned a Service Station in the east end. After self serve closed my station I worked 25 yeas at Dofasco. So my ties to Hamilton are very strong & watched CHCH on a black & white TV since I think 1954. I can get enough of CNN & Trump any time. So therefore CHCH local news is very important to me. Thank You

None of the other news stations cover the stories close to home. It's always just Toronto or the GTA. Having news for Hamilton and Niagara region is how I know what's going on in my region.

CHCH has provided Hamilton and Niagara area with news that we don't get the opportunity to hear on other Toronto TV stations. It is very sad to see this happen. Unfortunately viewers will turn to the around the click news stations.

We rely on local news to stay informed in our area/nationally. We find watching Chch after dinner to be relaxing, informative and entertained. Bubba Oneil is our favourite. He makes us smile and laugh. We are very sad to have learned this info tonight. Please return Chch back to regular schedule.

I don’t get the news paper this is how I know what is happening in my city. I’ve watched chch news at 6:00 ever since I was a youngster. My family brought us up watching the news every night it was on.

The local news is more informative and it helps the local community to get informed about what happened in the world and locally

CHCH news is in the same category as the Hamilton Spectator. I did not watch your 11:00 pm show I was in bed by that time but I always watched the 6:00am news and the 5:00pm news. Just like the Spec. Paper version rather than the on line version . There is nothing like having it delivered and in my hands while enjoying my morning coffee. Spectator and CHCH. They both hold the same importance in my life.

I like to be informed of what’s happening in the hamilton/niagara region. Local news, local weather is not available on any national news network. Toronto news is not our news.

Being able to keep up with what’s going on in my area. Instead of putting all the old outdated shows give us something that matters.

I have been tuned in to CHCH news for the last 10 yrs or so, since I've lived in Maryhill and probably much longer. I was shocked this evening to Not See the regular news, it has become an essential part of my routine of Life, and I have promoted your beautiful format of journalism and forecasts of local news. This is appalling that Funding for CHCH has been cut, interrupting LOCAL News. SHAME ON YOU CRTC! This is an outrage! I am saddened and disgusted with decisions made to interrupt such talented, honest broadcasting personal!

Because we get to see what is going on around us.

We look forward to watching our local news 7 days per week. We can judge how we will proceed going forward with our days. Where else can we get up to date local news on the television ? We need our local news now, for the future and always !! Thank you RJ

I live in Hamilton and there is not more important news for me than what is happening in and around our community. I don't want to lose that information to only bigger city news. Please keep CHCH news for the greater Hamilton and Niagara region. I'm not one to look for local news on the internet and god knows you can't really trust social media to be giving truthful information. Please keep local news!!!!

In this work of misinformation being spread through algorithms local news gives an unbiased report of world events

I’ve been watching CHCH TV news for as long as I can remember. I’m in my 60’s and it keeps me informed locally of what’s happening in my city. I’m a Hamiltonian my whole life and that’s been part of the culture part of the growing up with a station that specifically deals with Hamilton issues. It has always been a trusted news station. My family is scattered throat, Canada and always watch CHCH news to keep them updated on what’s going on in the city. Very disappointing that money and greed are always at the cost of something that is important to Hamiltonian’s and others around the golden horseshoe. I hope you do something to correct this measure.
