Spotlighting the Future of Local Sports in the Golden Horseshoe

The CHCH Rising Star Athlete of the Month recognizes outstanding young athletes who demonstrate exceptional performance, character, and promise within our region. Presented in association with the Golden Horseshoe Rising Star Award, this monthly honour shines a spotlight on the dedication, grit, and talent of our community’s brightest young sports stars.

Eligibility & Criteria

To qualify for the CHCH Rising Star Athlete of the Month, nominees must meet the following requirements:

  • Age: Must be 21 years of age or younger at the time of nomination.
  • Local Roots: Must currently reside in Hamilton, Halton Region or Niagara Region during the competition period, OR have been born and raised in Hamilton, Halton Region or Niagara Region.
  • The Right Stuff: Must display a combination of high-level athletic performance, exceptional character, and future promise.

How to Nominate

Know an athlete who fits the bill? Submitting a nomination is quick and easy. You can submit your application in one of two ways:

1. Upload a video or photos before the last day of the month below. Videos can be a maximum of three minutes long.

 Share details of why they should be considered. Tell us how many goals they scored, tackles they made, competitions they won.

If possible, please shoot video or snap photos horizontally, which can be seen so much better on TV.

    • All decisions made by the selection committee are final.
    • Award winners will be announced on CHCH News the first week of the following month.

    About the Annual Award: Selection as a Monthly Rising Star is a distinct honour but does not guarantee or automatically advance an athlete as a nominee for the annual Golden Horseshoe Athlete of the Year – Rising Star Award. The annual accolade follows a completely separate nomination, review, and selection process.
