Pedestrian sustains life-altering injuries after SUV crashes into Hamilton bus shelter

A 54-year-old man is in hospital with serious, life-altering injuries after being struck by an SUV at a bus stop Thursday in Hamilton.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of King Street West and Dundurn Street North.

Hamilton police say the female driver of a Ford Edge was leaving the parking lot of the Tim Hortons plaza when she lost control and hit the man who was waiting in the bus shelter.

The man was rushed to hospital with life-altering injuries, while the driver was not injured.

No charges have been laid at this time.

Hamilton police’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is now investigating.

“All investigative avenues are being considered at this time,” officers write in a press release.

Witnesses of the collision are urged to come forward. Drivers with dash camera video and residents and businesses in the area with surveillance cameras are asked to review their footage.
