Ontario invests $154M in Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital

Ontario is investing $154 million to add nearly 80,000 square feet of new acute care space and support 200 good-paying jobs in Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

This marks a major milestone that will connect more patients and families to faster, more convenient and high-quality acute care closer to home.

The project will add over 110 inpatient beds and is part of the government’s plan to protect Ontario’s health-care system.

The province is investing $64 billion in over 50 major hospital projects across the province over the next 10 years.

“Our government is making historic investments to protect Ontario’s health-care system, ensuring that more people in Halton and surrounding regions can connect to the care they need, where and when they need it,” said Sylvia Jones, deputy premier and minister of health.

“As part of our $64 billion health infrastructure plan, today’s milestone means more families in the region will have access to world-class hospital care, closer to home.”

The new state-of-the-art acute care renovations will reduce wait times, streamline care and deliver world-class infrastructure to better support the community.

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2027 and will create additional acute care capacity to better serve the almost 400,000 residents of Oakville, Halton Hills and Milton and surrounding communities.

The government is also supporting renovations at Milton District Hospital as part of the province’s broader plan to support health-care needs across the region.

Once complete, the renovations will make room for 12 additional inpatient beds and support dozens of good-paying jobs in the community.
