Serious crash on Upper Wellington Street injures man, sends woman to hospital

Hamilton police have closed a part of the road near Upper Wellington Street and Sirente Drive after a crash Tuesday night injured both drivers, sending one of them to hospital for serious injuries.

Officers say at around 11:16 p.m., two vehicles were involved in a collision in the area involving a white Nissan SUV and a white Honda Accord.

They say the driver of the Honda, a 19-year-old Hamilton man, sustained minor injuries, but the driver of the Nissan, a 58-year-old woman from Hamilton, was sent to hospital with critical injuries.

Police say she remains in critical, but stable condition.

Detectives have temporarily closed the road while they investigate the cause of the crash.

They did not comment on contributing factors at this time.
