Teen charged after alleged armed confrontation at Brock University
An 18-year-old has been arrested and charged after an alleged armed confrontation at Brock University in St. Catharines on Saturday.
Niagara police say they responded to reports of an armed individual on campus around 5:459 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect was not a student at the university and had attended the campus to confront three acquaintances over the circumstances of a previous dispute.
When the confrontation took place, police say the suspect uttered death threats while displaying what appeared to be a black handgun.
The three acquaintances ran for safety and locked themselves inside of a dormitory. There were no physical injuries reported.
Brock University Campus Safety services issued an emergency alert in partnership with Niagara police advising all Brock students and staff to shelter in place.

Shortly after, investigators determined that the suspect had left the campus in a vehicle and the shelter in place was lifted.
Police received information that the suspect might be inside of a home in north St. Catharines where he would surrender to officers and be placed under arrest around 7:03 p.m.
Detectives were able to find the handgun involved and determined it to be a replica airsoft pellet gun.
Dante Palumbo, 18, of St. Catharines faces charges of possession of a weapon, criminal harassment and uttering threats.
Palumbo remained in police custody awaiting a bail hearing scheduled for Sunday.
