Stoney Creek kids share Sochi spirit

Team Canada’s impressive performance so far in Sochi has inspired a Stoney Creek family to turn their yard into a modified luge run.

All the snow and freezing conditions, combined with the winter games gave Eric and Ethan Geenan the incentive to create a make-shift luge run in their Blanmora Dr yard. They were taking a few rides on it last night, and talked about why they built it.

Ethan: “There’s not much things we can kind of create, and kind of do to show our appreciation for it so we decided to do this.”

Their mother Michele Petsche: “I think this is fantastic. They enjoy the winter, they love the snow, and I think they’ve got added inspiration from the Olympics this year.”

Eric: “(We) feel a sense of national pride just being able to see our country doing well.”

They even used food colouring to add detail like the Olympic rings, and the words ‘Sochi 2014’.
