Striking members of Canada’s biggest federal public service union have reached a tentative contract agreement with the Treasury Board covering over 120,000 federal government workers across the nation.

The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) says the four-year deal includes wage increases totalling more than 12 per cent, as well as significant new protections around remote work and contracting out.

Members the of the PA, SV, TC and EB bargaining groups are now expected to return to work this morning at 9 a.m.

On the other hand, the deal does not cover Canada Revenue Agency workers.

Around 35,000 CRA employees remain on strike and they will continue to picket until the union and government reach an agreement.

PSAC says they are still working out details on remote work, wages that account for rampant inflation and job security.

Public workers hit picket lines at various spots across Canada since April 19th.

Picket lines have recently ramped up as they moved to strategic spots like the Burlington Lift Bridge and border crossings, where they stopped boats and cars.

In Hamilton, the workers say they have cancelled the picket line at the Burlington Lift Bridge today. Instead, they will be heading back to the government building at 55 Bay St. North.
