The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation says it has identified the person who drove a pickup truck into a crowd of people in New Orleans early Wednesday.

The crowd was celebrating New Year’s day on Bourbon Street when a pickup truck drove through them, killing 15 people and injuring more than 30.

The bureau says they are investigating the incident as an act of terrorism.

The FBI says they identified the driver of the truck as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar, a U.S. citizen from Texas.

Investigators say there was an Islamic State group flag found on the vehicle.

Jabbar was killed in a firefight with local police following the attack at around 3:15 a.m. in a public area.

As a result of the attack, the Sugar Bowl college football playoff game scheduled for later Wednesday evening was postponed.
