Man killed, another kidnapped, third shot in violent home invasion: Hamilton police

First Published:

Hamilton police say a man who was kidnapped during a fatal double shooting and home invasion early Thursday morning has been located.

In a tweet posted around 9 a.m., police said a man was found suffering from life-threatening injuries near Beach Blvd.

“The individual has been transported to hospital and police are working to confirm his identity,” police said in the tweet. “At this time, police believe the individual is Faqir Ali.”

Investigators say Ali was forcibly taken from his home in the area of Glancaster Rd. and Dickenson Rd. West in Mount Hope shortly before 3 a.m.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting at the home and located two men suffering from gunshot wounds. They were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where one of the men later died. The shooting victims have been identified as Ali’s two sons.

Police say Ali was “forcefully taken” in a dark coloured SUV.

Investigators believe this was a targeted incident.

The Hamilton Police Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation.

Investigators are asking anyone with dashcam footage or who may have witnessed anything near the Burlington Lift Bridge on Beach Blvd. around 9 a.m. to contact detectives at 905-546-3863.

Police are asking members of the public to stay away from both scenes as there will be a large police presence.

Hamilton police are expected to provide the media with an update at 10 a.m.
