Two charged with aggravated assault after road rage incident in Pelham

Niagara police arrested and charged two people with aggravated assault following a road rage incident in Pelham.

On Sept. 3 at around 11:25 p.m., officers responded to reports of a disturbance near the intersection of Highway 20 and Merrittville Highway.

Investigators say they arrived on scene to find the victim, a 64-year-old male resident of Pelham, with significant injuries.

Initial investigation revealed that a road rage incident took place on Highway 406 between the victim and two occupants, a male and female, from another vehicle.

Detectives say both vehicles stopped near the intersection of Highway 20 and Merrittville Highway.

Officers say all occupants exited their vehicles and engaged in a verbal argument which turned into a physical altercation.

Police say the occupants of the other vehicle left the scene before officers arrived.

Investigators say the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

On Friday, Megan Williams, 30, of Welland was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated assault.

On Saturday, Donald Messervey, 31, of St. Catharines was also arrested and charged with one count of aggravated assault.

Both of the accused were released with future court dates.
