Environment Canada says the current winter storm is expected to drop anywhere from 20 to 40 cm of snow across our region through Monday morning. Here’s a list of what’s closed due to the snowstorm:
Hamilton
-
- Mohawk College campuses, including in-person classes and on-campus events;
- McMaster University classes, events and programs;
- Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board schools, adult education, school-based child care centres and administrative buildings;
- Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board schools, adult education, school-based child care centres and administrative buildings;
- Hillfield Strathallan College;
- Providence Christian School;
- Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation schools and offices;
- Canada Post will be suspending deliveries for the day for Hamilton and surrounding areas;
- Six Nations of the Grand River offices, including the Family Health Team;
- The Salvation Army Hamilton;
- First Class Children’s Centre;
- Hamilton Boys and Girls Club;
- Paradise Corner Children’s Centre;
- VON Meals on Wheels Hamilton is cancelled;
- Stoney Creek Community Food Bank;
- YWCA Hamilton’s non-essential services will be closed, including YWCA Senior’s Active Living Centres, YWCA Hamilton Employment Ontario Services, YWCA Safety and Support Hub and YWCA Child Care Centres and Before and After School Programs;
- City of Hamilton administrative offices and facilities are open;
- Curbside waste collection is cancelled, including garbage, green bin, bulk waste and recycling. Collection will occur one day later this week. Transfer stations and community recycling centres are expected to open.
- HSR will operate on its usual schedule but service may be slow due to the weather;
- DARTS service is running but customers can expect delays;
- Seniors’ Dental Bus is closed;
- Hamilton Public Library branches are expected to open at 12 p.m., however the Greensville Branch is closed and Bookmobile visits are cancelled. Study halls are expected to open tonight. For specific branch hours, click here;
- Programs at city seniors’ centres are cancelled but buildings remain open;
- Community Living Hamilton;
- The Hamilton Conservatory for the Arts has cancelled all classes and is closed for the day;
- Compass Community Health will be closed for in-person care;
- Hamilton Regional Indian Centre including Mobile Street Outreach and Drop-in centre;
- Grandad’s Coffee and Doughnuts on James Street North;
Halton Region
- Halton District School Board schools and offices;
- Halton Catholic District School Board schools and offices;
- Sheridan College campuses;
- Trinity Christian School in Burlington;
- OakHaven Academy For Diverse Learners;
- Transportation services in Zones 1, 2 and 3;
- Milton Community Resource Centre;
- Halton Boys and Girls Club;
- Halton and Oakville Meals on Wheels;
- City of Burlington recreation centres will remain closed until 3 p.m.;
- Burlington Public Library branches.
Niagara Region
- District School Board of Niagara schools and administrative sites;
- Niagara Catholic District School Board schools and offices;
- Niagara College Welland & Niagara-on-the-Lake campuses;
- Brock University;
- Niagara Children’s Centre School Authority;
- A Child’s World centres;
- Rosalind Blauer Centre for Child Care;
- YMCA of Niagara child care locations are closed, but health, fitness and aquatic centres will open at 9 a.m.;
- Meals on Wheels Port Colborne/Wainfleet and Thorold/St. Catharines;
- West Lincoln Township facilities are open and programs are running as scheduled;
- Friends Over 55 Recreation Centre in Port Colborne.
Brantford, Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk counties
- Grand Erie District School Board schools, administrative buildings and child-care facilities;
- Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board;
- Transportation services in Zones 1, 2 and 3;
- Haldimand-Norfolk Community Senior Support Services – all Meals on Wheels, Transportation and Adult Day Programs;
- Wilfrid Laurier University campuses and locations.
As of 9 p.m. Jan. 25, Ontario Provincial Police report that more than 40 cm of snow has fallen across the GTA.
Environment Canada says Toronto could see over 50 cm of snow overnight into Monday morning.
Hamilton and Niagara regions are expected to receive anywhere from 20 to 40 cm of snow throughout Sunday and overnight into Monday morning.
