A Welland man is facing multiple charges after neighbours alerted police to suspected elder fraud.
Niagara police say they responded on Feb. 6 after receiving reports of a man defrauding a vulnerable senior at a home in the area of Sixth Street in Welland, Ont.
Detectives say the suspect was completing trivial tasks for the victim, and was able to convince them he was a friend/relative.
Officers add that the suspect took the victim to the bank in a taxi, they withdrew cash and then provided it to the suspect. This allegedly happened on approximately five separate occasions before neighbours confronted the man on the sixth occasion and contacted police.
On Feb. 10, Jason Jacobs, 47, was arrested and faces the following charges:
