A Halton Regional Police officer is facing charges after a Mississauga vehicle pursuit last year that left one person seriously injured.

The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has charged Sgt. David Joseph after a stolen vehicle that was being pursued crashed with a tractor-trailer.

On March 12, 2025, officers were investigating the theft of a Kia Sedona in Oakville that also involved a stolen GMC Hummer.

Police located both vehicles in the area of Upper Middle and Trafalgar roads and attempted to stop them.

The SIU says a 26-year-old driver was seriously injured after the Hummer collided with a tractor-trailer during the police pursuit near Winston Churchill Boulevard and Lakeshore Road East.

The SIU is asking anyone who may have information about this investigation, including video or photos, to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529 or online.
