Trudeau in Hamilton for 3-day cabinet meeting retreat

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is in Hamilton for the next three days as he works with his Liberal ministers to improve their political and policy strategy.
The cabinet retreat is being held at a Hamilton hotel and comes during what Trudeau said are “tough times”.
With a potential recession on the horizon, people are feeling the strain of high inflation and in an email to CHCH News, a Canadian government official said the retreat aims to improve affordability for all Canadians.
“The retreat will focus on growing and strengthening the economy, making life more affordable, improving health care for Canadians, expanding our supply chain, and our ongoing efforts to combat climate change,” they wrote in an email statement.

In cross-country visits this week, Trudeau has been spreading the message of clean technology.
The federal government released regulations on Dec. 21 outlining Canada’s push to expand its battery and electric-vehicle industries.
The regulations will require that at least 20 percent of new vehicles sold in Canada will be zero emission by 2026, at least 60 percent by 2030, and 100 percent by 2035.
The retreat will take place from Jan. 23 to 25 in Hamilton before the House of Commons is scheduled to resume sitting on Jan. 30.
