OHL approves Hyman family purchase of Brantford Bulldogs

The Ontario Hockey League’s board of directors have approved the purchase of the Brantford Bulldogs by a group led by Edmonton Oilers’ Zach Hyman and family.
Bulldogs Ventures. Inc. made the announcement Jan. 13 and confirmed that Hyman will assume control of the organization’s operations effective Jan. 16.
Hyman, age 32, is a left winger for the Oilers. His brother Spencer and father Stuart are also involved in the purchase of the club.
Zach Hyman said: “My family and I are thrilled to officially be a part of the Bulldogs family and the Brantford community. To the city and residents of Brantford, we know what the Bulldogs mean to you and we take this privilege of being the new leaders of the Bulldogs to heart.”

Hyman thanked former owner Michael Andlauer for entrusting him to steward the franchise into the future.
Andlauer was quoted in a press release saying, “I want our fans and community to know that I would not sell the team unless I felt certain it was in good hands.”
Brantford mayor Kevin Davis said he looks forward to supporting the Hyman family “to build on the successes of the Brantford Bulldogs and carry on the tradition of showcasing exceptional hockey in [the] city.”
Andlauer bought the Belleville Bulls before moving the team to Hamilton for the 2015–16 season. The club won the OHL championship in 2018 and 2022.
Due to planned renovations to the FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton the club announced in February of 2023 they would temporarily rename themselves the Brantford Bulldogs for at least three seasons.
The Brantford Bulldogs play their home games at Brantford Civic Centre which also underwent renovations funded by the Bulldogs and the City of Brantford.
