Current Brantford Bulldogs owner Michael Andlauer has sold the OHL team to Zach Hyman and his family, a source tells CHCH News.

Hyman plays as the left winger for the Edmonton Oilers.

An official announcement will be released next week, but it raises many questions about what this could mean for the team and the community in Brantford.

Michael Andlauer has owned the team for the last ten years.

He purchased the team in 2015 which was then known as the Belleville Bulls and brought them to Hamilton.

They then went on to win two OHL Championships in 2018 and 2022.

The team relocated to Brantford in 2023 due to the then-upcoming renovations at the First Ontario Centre in Hamilton and disagreements with city officials and those involved in the process.

This is the Bulldogs second season playing in Brantford, which has been met with enthusiasm and excitement by the city to have an OHL team right in their backyard.

The announcement of a new owner now raises questions about the $140 million plan to build a new sports and entertainment centre.

The plan at this time is for the new venue to be the permanent home for the team, which would add another $4.8 million annually.

The City of Brantford’s website says construction could start as early as this year, with the goal to open in 2027.

The official announcement is expected to come after an OHL meeting Monday, and then a press conference is expected on Wednesday.
