The mother of a 19-year-old who was gunned down on a busy street in downtown Hamilton two years ago, is still waiting for answers and calling for justice.
His mother, Melanie Ward, is marking the grim anniversary of the brazen, broad daylight shooting on King St. West that took his life.
Alexander Circiumaru was walking on the sidewalk on King St. West at around 1 p.m. when police say a car pulled up, someone jumped out of that car and shot him multiple times.
His killer is still out there.
“Two years today, and it’s not easy,” said Ward. “He had a future, he had a life ahead of him — he should be here, he shouldn’t be in a grave.”
Ward is in Florida, but her mind is in Hamilton where her son, Circiumaru was killed.

A man in a hood and mask got out of the car and shot him multiple times before getting back in the car and fleeing.
Two years have passed with no arrests.
“My grief will always be there — it’s like my heart has a hole in it,” said Ward.
A grief made stronger after Circiumaru’s father recently died following a battle with cancer.
“It hurts because I wish that he could see justice, that he could have been here, and I know that it broke his heart and it just devastated him.”
Ward is still waiting for that justice.
Since her son’s murder police have released an image of the shooter and a $50,000 reward approved last year for information leading to an arrest, but no other information on the killing.

“People know something, and I want them to come forward and do the right thing,” said Ward.
For now, Ward has to hope the investigation will progress as she lives with the memories of her son.
“You will not ever be able to take away the memories,” said Ward. “I had the joy I had, of having him, giving him his first breath. You will not ever take those away from my family either.”
Ward says she has one message for her son’s killer, “if you think that you cannot be caught by the detectives, the police — and have the justice I deserve and the punishment you deserve — yeah I’ve got something to say: God’s wrath will come to you.”
Hamilton police said Friday that there are no updates to the investigation. They are still looking for people to come forward with information.
Ward said she emails police every other week for updates, but says she hasn’t received any.
