Hamilton police say a 39-year-old man missed the birth of his child after two teens allegedly stole his vehicle last week.

Investigators say the Hamilton man left his Honda CR-V running and unattended as he was picking up his child from daycare on Jan. 14 when teenagers stole the SUV.

His pregnant wife was admitted to hospital for medical complications shortly before the theft. Since his cellphone was also in the stolen vehicle, the hospitalized woman had to contact a neighbour to ask them to find her husband and get to the hospital immediately.

When he arrived at the hospital he found out his wife had undergone an emergency surgery and their baby was delivered.
