Police say at least five people were killed after a 23-year-old armed with a rifle opened fire at his workplace in Louisville, Kentucky on Monday morning.

Louisville Metro Police Department Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel identified the shooter as Connor Sturgeon, who was killed by police responding to the shooting inside Old National Bank.

Gwinn-Villaroel also said the shooter livestreamed the attack.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said he lost a close friend in the shooting.

“These are irreplaceable, amazing individuals that a terrible act of violence tore from all of us,” Beshear said of the victims.

At least nine others were injured in the attack, including a police officer who graduated from the academy on March 31.

The incident marks the 15th mass shooting in the US so far this year.

It comes just two weeks after a former student killed three children and three adults at a Christian elementary school in Nashville, Tennessee.
