The White House announced that U.S. President Donald Trump signed five new executive orders set to bar select Canadian goods from the U.S. market, including alcohol.
Trump’s orders are set to take effect later this month and will completely bar the import of certain Canadian goods, including motorcycles, alcoholic beverages and dairy products.
Also included in Trump’s orders are a number of Canadian goods added to the list of products being hit with 50 per cent tariffs as of Sept. 29.
Among those products are whey products, molasses products, non-alcoholic beer, malt beer, wine and cider, liquor and mopeds.
The latest move from Trump is another counter-retaliation on Canada after Ottawa responded to previous tariffs with duties of their own.
More to come.
