Legislature resumes sitting today, opens with Throne Speech

Today at noon, Ontario Lieutenant-Governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell will deliver a Throne Speech in the Legislative Chamber at Queen’s Park, opening the second session of the 41st Parliament.

This comes after Premier Kathleen Wynne announced last Thursday that she would be proroguing the legislature.The opposition parties will be on the attack today over high electricity rates, the privatization of Hydro One and the province’s whopping $300-billion dollar debt. Finance Minister Charles Sousa says the Throne Speech will outline how the Liberals plan to offer some relief from skyrocketing hydro bills.

Meantime, the Progressive Conservatives are returning to the legislature with newly elected MPP Raymond Cho, who took the Scarborough-Rouge River seat in the September 1st byelection; a riding that has long been a Liberal stronghold.
