In a statement on X, Carney said he had a good conversation with Trump on the future of Canada-U.S. trade.

While out on the campaign trail in Iowa on Sunday, Trump told reporters he is close to working out a trade deal with Canada.

Trump said he spoke with Carney on Saturday.

“We have the concept of a really good deal with Canada. You know we’ve been losing money for many years with Canada … 70, 75 years. So we are now very close to having a deal,” Trump said.
