There was no shortage of star sightings in Toronto this weekend.

Leonardo DiCaprio made his first ever visit to TIFF to promote his documentary film on climate change.

Thousands of screaming fans waited for his arrival. He signed autographs and took photos before heading into the Princess of Wales theatre for the world premiere of “Before the Flood” directed by Fisher Stevens.

In the documentary, which was executive produced by Martin Scorsese, DiCaprio travelled to over 20 countries – including Canada at the toxic tar sands in Alberta. He met with scientists, politicians and activists to find out how humans can do their part to slow climate change. National Geographic has picked up the feature and will air it on October 31st.

Another star on hand this weekend was Dev Patel who is garnering a lot of praise for his latest film “Lion.” It is a story of how Google earth helped a man reunite with his long lost family. He stars opposite Nicole Kidmam and already some critics have suggested Patel and Kidman’s performances could be worthy of Oscar nominations.

A chorus of celebrities gathered for the premiere of “Sing” yesterday.  Reese Witherspoon, Matthew McConaughey, Scarlett Johansson, Taron Egerton, Nick Kroll, Tori Kelly and Jennifer Hudson all lend their voices to characters in the upcoming animated flick.

And Sigourney Weaver was on the red carpet over the weekend and took a moment to talk to fans and sign autographs. Weaver was at the festival for a screening of the film “A Monster Calls”, a fantasy flick about a boy who is visited by a tree monster to cope with his mom’s terminal illness.
