Hamilton police charge 5 people following car theft investigation

Five people are facing multiple charges after an investigation into a number of car thefts across multiple jurisdictions.
Hamilton police say that identifying a central stolen vehicle led to the connection of other cases of theft in the area.
Officers say that on June 14 they received reports of a car stolen from the Paris, Ontario area that was later found near Limeridge Mall in Hamilton.
Responding crews attempted to attend to the report when the vehicle hit the marked police cruiser before fleeing from police.

The vehicle was later found abandoned in another part of Hamilton.
Investigators note that upon the discovery of another stolen vehicle in the City’s East End, one of the suspects continuously rammed into police vehicles and pointed a firearm at the officers. The firearm was later determined to be a replica incapable of discharging ammunition at police.
Following the incident, police were able to safely arrest the occupants of the stolen car and no injuries were reported.
Cody Atkinson, 22, of Hamilton faces four charges including vehicle theft and failure to comply with probation.
Twenty-Six-year-old Jordan Entwistle faces six charges including pointing a firearm, dangerous operation and 11 counts of failure to comply with probation.

Reed Vanry, 26, and Lorraine Lewis, 23, both of Hamilton have been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 and occupant of a motor vehicle without consent.
Devan Hill, 22, of Hamilton additionally faces six charges including posession/use of a stolen credit card and failure to comply with probation.
Investigators say that the investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected to be laid.
