Halton police arrested and charged one person Tuesday with 29 offences as part of an auto theft investigation that began in April.
Officers say the investigation began after an Oakville resident reported finding an Accutag tracking device affixed on their vehicle.
Investigators say they identified 25-year-old Darryl Davance of Saint-Jérôme, Que., who also went by the alias Joey Tremblay, as being responsible for 14 thefts and attempted thefts of high end Lexus and Toyota vehicles across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) between March and August of this year.
Police arrested Davance and charged him with 14 counts of theft of a motor vehicle, 14 counts of failing to comply while being on a release order, and for mischief over $5,000.
Davance has been held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.

Officers say Davance was subject to prior forms of release for similar offences at the time of his arrest.
Detectives believe the accused is responsible for several other auto thefts in the GTHA and the investigation is ongoing.
They say that during the investigation, tracking devices were affixed to multiple vehicles prior to their thefts, and police warn residents that tagging vehicles can happen very quickly.
Police say car thieves frequent busy public areas like shopping malls or hotel parking lots, and discreetly hide a small GPS or Bluetooth tracking device in a hard to see spot.
