Global Affairs Canada says the government may not provide financial assistance for Canadians who get stranded during travel this summer.
In the advisory issued Monday, Global Affairs Canada warned that the ongoing situation in the Middle East could affect international travel for Canadians this summer, even if your destination isn’t in the region.
According to the federal government, fuel shortages, flight cancellations and service disruptions stemming from the war in Iran could all impact trips abroad in the coming months.
The advisory says overseas travel is “a personal choice,” and said that the government’s ability to provide assistance to Canadians who end up stranded abroad “may be limited.”
The government is also advising all Canadians in the Middle East to leave if you can and it is safe to do so.
