Starting on Monday, the intersection of Ottawa Street North and Main Street East will be fully closed for about four months.

The full closure is required for crews to safely complete watermain and sewer installation, utility relocations and road reconstruction.

“This work will renew critical municipal infrastructure, improve the long-term reliability of local roads and help prepare the corridor for future Hamilton LRT construction,” the city says in a statement.

The City of Hamilton says that residents can continue to access side streets east and west of Ottawa Street North, as well as north and south of Main Street East.

The city is advising drivers to plan alternate routes ahead of time.

Waste collection and emergency services will not be impacted in the area.
