A deadly 7.5 magnitude earthquake hit Afghanistan, Pakistan and India this morning, shaking buildings from Kabul to Delhi, cutting power and killing more than 180 people.

The quake claimed the lives of 33 people in Afghanistan, including 12 students who were crushed in a stampede as they fled the shaking buildings.

Many cars rolled over in the streets following the quake.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the powerful quake struck near the border of Afghanistan and northern Pakistan. It was centered in a remote area of Afghanistan in the Hindu Kush mountain range, 250 kilometers north of Kabul.

Pakistani officials say at least 147 were killed and nearly 600 others wounded across the country, and they are expecting the death toll to rise as reports come in from remote areas.
