Baird to make leadership bid?

Former Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird is reportedly seriously considering running for leader of the Conservative Party of Canada in the wake of Stephen Harper’s resignation.

While no one has officially thrown a hat into the ring, Baird joins another veteran Harper cabinet minister, Jason Kenny, as potential frontrunners — should they decide to go for it.

Baird stepped away from politics earlier this year, saying he wanted to start a new chapter in his life.

At the time, Baird was one of Harper’s most-trusted lieutenants. Since leaving politics, Baird has landed a number of prestigious roles with prominent Canadian businesses.
