Campaign sign for Ward 14 councillor Kojo Damptey vandalized with anti-black messages

A campaign sign for a Hamilton city councillor candidate in Ward 14 was vandalized with anti-black messages.
The campaign sign for Kojo Damptey is located at a bus station on Upper Paradise and Mohawk Road West.
In pictures posted to Twitter, a sign over Damptey’s sign reads “white people first.”

In a video posted to Twitter, Damptey’s partner can be seen cleaning the sign.
He thanked community members for their help in cleaning and called the vandalism “despicable.”
Damptey also says he and his team want to figure out who is responsible for the vandalism. Hamilton police say they have not been contacted about the vandalism, so will not be investigating.
