Voters across six federal ridings in Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan including Brantford-Brant South will be heading to the polls on Dec. 7 in upcoming by-elections.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Mark Carney called by-elections.
Locally, the Brantford-Brant South by-election comes after former Member of Parliament (MP) Larry Brock stepped down this fall.
Brock had accepted an opportunity to return directly to the frontlines of the Brantford Crown Attorney’s office.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre named former Brantford mayor Kevin Davis as the new candidate.
After winning three by-elections earlier this year, Carney’s Liberals currently have a majority government.
On Sunday in a post on X, Poilievre asked that Canadians choose a different path.
He said that his party’s plan will save money, protect jobs and reform the immigration system.
