Two men arrested after series of convenience store robberies in Hamilton

Hamilton police say they’ve arrested two men after a series of robberies overnight in the city.

Officers say that on Monday at around 10:30 p.m., a male entered a downtown Hamilton convenience store and indicated that he had a firearm.

The male allegedly robbed the business and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Then, at around 12:50 a.m. Tuesday morning, investigators say two people entered a convenience store in Hamilton’s Crown Point neighbourhood.

The people then allegedly remained inside the business before robbing the store of cash and fleeing the area.

At that time, authorities believed the two robberies to be connected.

Detectives say a police presence in the area around the second robbery was mobilized and patrolled, including specifically at other convenience stores.

While conducting these patrols, police say they interrupted two people who were actively robbing a third convenience store in the same neighbourhood.

Officers say that after a foot pursuit, a 21-year-old man was charged with two counts robbery and a 20-year-old man was charged with three counts of robbery and six counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
