St. Catharines rower Isabella Essig named first-ever CHCH Rising Star Athlete
Isabella Essig from St. Catharines, one of Canada’s top rowers, is the first-ever recipient of the CHCH Rising Star Athlete award for the month of July.
Essig has topped the podium for rowing at the high school, club, national and international levels.
Outside of rowing, the Eden High School graduate also volunteers in the nephrology ward at Marotta Family Hospital in St. Catharines and even performs as part of a violin trio at the Royal Henley Retirement Community.
She is an accounting assistant at an accounting firm in the city and coaches at the St. Catharines Rowing Club.
This fall, Essig will join the University of Pennsylvania’s NCAA Division I rowing team.
