Hamilton Bulldogs lose to Saginaw Spirit, 4-3 in shootout

Hamilton Bulldogs was on the wrong end of the score board Saturday night losing to Saginaw Spirit, 4-3, in a shootout.

Off to a great start for the Bulldogs, Connor Walters scored early in the first period to make it 1-0. Fans tossed their stuffed animals on the ice for the annual Teddy Bear Toss.

A short lived celebration as the Spirit quickly tied the game, 1-1.

The game was scoreless in the second period.

Saginaw scored twice in the third to take a 3-2 lead. However, Will Bitten scored another, his second of the night, tying the game at 3-3 and signaling overtime but that didn’t resolve anything which sent the game into a shootout.

Hamilton outshot Saginaw, 36-25.

The Bulldogs are back in action Sunday afternoon as they host the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds at FirstOntario Centre. The game begins at 2 p.m.
