The Progressive Conservative party is asking the Integrity Commissioner to investigate the latest documents concerning the cancelled gas plants.
They say emails show that the Liberals tried to influence a speaker who was deciding whether or not to rule the Liberal government in contempt of Parliament.
In a letter to the commissioner, the PCs call the incident an “act of intimidation,” and say, “it is unacceptable and inappropriate for unelected political staff to act in order to change the mind of a speaker of the house.”
Longtime Liberal campaign chair Don Guy says he sent the email to Dalton McGuinty’s office to avoid an “unnecessary $150 million election” that a contempt ruling could lead to.
