Police find over $450,000 worth of drugs in Hamilton home

Police have laid numerous charges on two people after finding a quantity of illicit drugs, with an estimated street value of over $450,000, in a Hamilton home.

The force’s Major Drug Unit carried out multiple search warrants on Friday morning in connection with an on-going investigation into drug trafficking in the city.

Officers seized five ounces of crack cocaine along with numerous items associated with drug trafficking such as a Glock handgun with a fully loaded magazine, dozens of rounds of 9mm ammunition, five high capacity extended magazines loaded with ammunition, scales, drug production equipment, and cutting agents to add to drug production.

Four ounces of suspected high concentrated fentanyl was also seized and police say that would have the ability to produce over two kilograms of fentanyl for distribution once prepared for street doses.

Police estimate the combined street value of the illicit substances to be over $450,000.

Lual Ayom Ngong, 27, of Hamilton is facing the following charges:

  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Six counts of possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Loaded prohibited firearm
  • Tamper with serial number of a firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • CDSA 5(2) fentanyl
  • CDSA 5(2) cocaine
  • Proceeds of crime over $5000
  • Three counts of failure to comply with probation
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to order

Lauren Thompson, 47, of Grimsby is facing the following charges:

  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Six counts of possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Loaded prohibited firearm
  • Tamper with serial number of a firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • CDSA 5(2) fentanyl
  • CDSA 5(2) cocaine
  • Proceeds over $5000

“This is not the end,” police said. “The citizens of Hamilton need to continue to feel safe in their communities and as a community we need to stop illicit drugs and guns from entering our streets.”
