Ontario’s Liberal Leader, Steven Del Duca was in Hamilton on Monday – not to make any new announcement about his platform – but to instead promote the party’s new Hamilton East Stoney Creek candidate, city councillor Jason Farr.
As CHCH News reported last week, the longtime downtown Ward 2 councillor threw his hat into the ring for the upcoming provincial election. This means he will forgo his council pay once the campaign kicks off but says he and his staff will still be available to Ward 2 residents.
The riding of Hamilton East-Stoney Creek has come to the forefront after the NDP ousted longtime MPP Paul Miller.
While the announcement was more of an endorsement for Jason Farr, there were three other Hamilton Liberal candidates in attendance.
Recent polls have suggested the Ford government is still the choice of nearly 40% of voters.
Liberal Leader, Del Duca says the people of Ontario will have the next 44 days to evaluate platforms and make a decision.
“People will then get a chance to judge, who is the leader, what is the team, and who has the best plan for them and I’m really really good with what Ontario liberals will have on offer in particular in someone like Jason Farr who stepped forward to run with us,” said Del Duca.
