Hamilton’s waterfront is currently undergoing a transformation and it includes what could be one of the largest public art projects the city has ever seen. Five glass panels over four stories high will be constructed near Pier 8.
The massive art project is called All Our Relations. The project is designed by Indigenous artist, Angela Demontigny. She says, “It consists of acknowledging the four legs, the animals, the birds, the trees, the plants, the water, the fish, and the aquatic life.”

The project is three years in the making in collaboration with the City of Hamilton and Cobalt Connects, a non-profit that supports art projects across Ontario.
Each panel is 10 feet wide and 40 feet tall, and there are over 7,000 two and 3-quarter-inch glass beads being used, each weighing about two pounds.

Hamilton high school students that have been learning about Indigenous art are helping to complete the project by inserting the glass beads. The installation will be complete in September.
