Wynne marks anniversary with Reddit AMA

To mark her first year in office, Premier Kathleen Wynne hosted a Reddit ‘Ask Me Anything’ session today.

Topics ranged from rising hydro rates to selling alcoholic beverages in grocery stores. Wynne is Ontario’s 25th premier and the first woman to hold the office.

“It was a real mixture, and the most frustrating thing was there were so many questions that I wanted to answer them all, but I don’t have eight hours to go at it so I hope I can do it again.”

She was elected as Liberal leader following Dalton McGuinty’s surprise resignation in the wake of the gas plant scandals, and problems dealing with the teachers’ unions. Despite leading a minority government, Wynne managed to stay in power for a year by getting the NDP to support the Liberals’ budget. But many observers think it’s unlikely that this year’s budget will pass, which will force an election.
