Woman charged after feeding pigs

A Toronto woman who gave pigs water while they were on their way to a Burlington slaughter house had to face criminal charges in court today. She was charged with mischief.
When a truck full of pigs stopped in front of Fearmans pork, Anita Krync was waiting for them in Burlington last summer. “The pigs were foaming at the mouth, they were panting, they were extremely hot.” But the animal activist got in trouble for her actions. If found guilty she could have to pay up to 5000 dollars in fines and possibly serve some jail time. “We’re not going to stop what we’re doing. We’re going to continue what we’re doing even if that means we go to jail.”
Anita began the animal activist group called Toronto Pig Save two years ago. Her group waits outside slaughterhouses three times a week. They give pigs water and feed them watermelons.
“Movements grow when you do on the ground activities regularly.” Anita and her supporters don’t think people should eat meat. The group also says animals are treated cruelly before slaughter and argues that the meat industry is bad for the environment. Anita is also mortified that pigs are considered property. The farmer who laid the mischief charges says he has no problem with the group protesting but to leave his “stuff” alone.
“I think it’s more of a crime to do nothing, If you see a thirsty dog in a truck or in a car it’s your obligation to free that dog, why is it different for a pig?”
