Wind cleanup continues

The clean-up continues across the region today following the short but powerful wind storm that toppled trees, pulled down hydro wires and tore off shingles.

Rod Baldwin from Power Property Services says they’ve received over 20 calls since Friday dealing with some of the largest fallen trees but there’s more work ahead.

The turbulent weather conditions split a Burlington tree at it’s base, the limbs smashing a pickup truck in it’s path. The strength of the storm can be seen in some of the structural damage to homes and while some home and fence repairs will take time, roofing companies have been overwhelmed.

Tyler Morris from Complete Roofing can’t even count the number of repairs he’s made since Friday. He says he will be out working each day until dark.

According to the Insurance Bureau of Canada, damage to homes caused by wind is typically covered by home insurance. This includes losses caused by flying debris or falling branches or trees.
