Former PC leader O’Toole weighs in on tone set by leaders in Canada-U.S. trade talks

As Canada and the United States work toward a new trade deal before the Friday deadline, former leader of the Federal Conservative Party Erin O’Toole spoke on his thoughts of the process.

CHCH News anchor Matt Ingram asked the former leader of the official opposition if Canada should be celebrating or if the population should be worried.

O’Toole spoke on the importance of tariffs on steel, aluminum and Canadian automobiles, and the need to get any tentative deal in writing.

Ingram then asked for O’Toole’s insight on what level the tariffs would need to be reduced to for the Canadian people to accept, and for the affected industries to accept from the trade deal.
