Ticats announce team awards

The Tiger-Cats are focused on winning the “team” prize that will be earned on November 24th in Regina. But Wednesday, league wide, CFL teams named their individual player award winners. Players who will now be nominees for the division and CFL awards. Natalie Marconi has the details.
C.J. Gable is not only the Ticats’ rookie of the year, but he has a legitimate shot at the league title as well.
This versatile running back has almost 800 rushing yards, 600 receiving yards, 240 return yards, 12 touchdowns. And he says it wasn’t easy: “It was hard sometimes, I messed up a lot. I could see it on their face and I was like ‘oh man!’. But they stuck in there with me and I’m thankful for that. The hardest thing was the plays. Getting them just right. So do you feel vindicated with this award? Yes, Yes I do, ha ha.”
With a 65.6 completion percentage, almost 48-hundred passing yards, and 22 touchdowns, Henry Burris is well-deserving of the team’s Most Outstanding Player honour.
And likewise, Greg Wojt who protected Burris, playing both offensive guard and offensive tackle positions this season, clearly earned the o-lineman award.
On the other side of the line of scrimmage, defensive tackle Brian Bulke has proved to be one of the most valuable off-season, free agent acquisitions, and as a result, has been named both outstanding d-lineman, and outstanding Canadian: “Whether it’s the first quarter of the fourth quarter, I’m gonna give the exact same effort. Making sure whether it’s preseason or week 17, and that’s gonna keep going all the way to the Grey Cup.”
Outstanding Special Teams winner, Marc Beswick, who leads the CFL with 22 special teams tackles, also has his eye on the big prize: “I’m trying to win a Grey Cup. If I win special teams, it don’t really matter to me.”
