St. Catharines woman’s cancer left her struggling financially

A woman in St. Catharines is struggling financially after her breast cancer diagnosis late last year.
Carol Lepp, 59, was put off work indefinitely by her doctors due to her diagnosis and left without a source of income. Now she’s faced with battling her cancer and the high cost of living.
Lepp began chemotherapy in February and is in the process of finishing her second round this month, followed by a complete mastectomy next month.
With her limited income, expenses like rent, cable, phone bills, and grocery bills have become a huge source of stress.
She’s turned to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation for help twice this year, something that the organization sees often since it began 24 years ago.
The foundation helps people with their day-to-day expenses. Successful applicants, like Lepp, receive $1,000 and can apply 3 times in 1 calendar year with the lifetime limit capped at $12,000.
In the meantime, Lepp’s sister has set up a GoFundMe page with all the funds going toward paying her bills. You can help Carol Lepp by going to this link: GoFundMe.
