Police seek suspect vehicle used in Burlington townhouse arson

Halton police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect accused of setting two townhomes on fire in Burlington nearly two weeks ago.

Officers say the blaze was “intentionally set” shortly before 6 a.m. on Oct. 11 and damaged a pair of unoccupied units that were under construction on Turnberry Road near Appleby Line and Dundas Street.

Approximately 27 firefighters arrived to smoke and flames, which they believe started on the main floor of one of the units.

Police say no one was injured.

The cost of damages is estimated at $2 million.

In an update Tuesday, Halton police say they’re looking for a suspect who was driving a red Dodge Charger.

Anyone with dash cam video of Appleby Line between Taywood Drive and the QEW between 5:45 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Oct. 11 is asked to contact police.

The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal is investigating.

It’s the second arson at the site following another fire that broke out on Aug. 2, 2023 and caused about $3 million in damages.
