Playground Upgrades

Three playgrounds in Hamilton are getting a $400,000 facelift. The parks have worn out equipment and chipped paint. City officials say they are hoping the renovations will help keep kids active.
Birge Park, Lifesavers Park, and Woodlands Park look worn out and tired, neighbours agree.
The biggest renovation would be to Birge Park, about half of the funds of the entire program would go to disposing this playground and designing and building an entire new one.
Hamilton City Councillor Matt Green points to the success of Gage Park. Kids have been flooding to the playground since it was renovated.
He wants the same for these three parks.
He says the decision for these renovations were driven by residents in the neighborhood.
Green hopes the playgrounds will be ready for use next summer.
