The west leg of the Sherman Access will be closed for six weeks starting Monday.

The closure is between the Sherman Cut and Charlton Ave. E and will allow the city to complete rockfall protection work.

The City of Hamilton says the work includes escarpment scaling of loose rocks and the installation of rockfall meshing between the Wentworth stairs and the Sherman Cut.

Access to Charlton Ave. E and the Wentworth stairs will be maintained but drivers should take an alternative route.

The closure is expected to wrap in late August.
