Niagara police say a single-vehicle crash in Niagara-on-the-Lake has left the driver of the vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Wednesday at around 4 a.m., officers responded to the single-vehicle collision at the part of the road where Lakeshore Road turns into Mary Street.

Investigators say it appeared that the vehicle was travelling east on Lakeshore Road and left the roadway on the north side near the bend where the road turns into Mary Street.

Police tell CHCH News that the vehicle entered the ditch and went airborne, crossed Dorchester Street and came to rest after hitting the 333 Mary St. building.

Detectives say the driver of that vehicle, a 27-year-old man from Niagara-on-the-Lake was transported to an out-of-town hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers say he was the only occupant and no other injuries were reported.

Police say the driver has been charged with impaired operation and dangerous operation. Damages to the building are estimated to be around $120,000.
